Granbury ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of First Sergeant Jose A. Guerra, USMC (Ret.), as the new Marine Instructor for the nationally recognized Granbury High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC (MCJROTC) program. He will assume the role following the departure of 1stSgt Rositas, who faithfully served the program and its cadets for the past 15 years.
First Sergeant Guerra brings 20 years of honorable service in the United States Marine Corps, where he has held key leadership positions, including recruiter, supply chief, operations manager, and instructor. He most recently served as the First Sergeant for Battery Bravo, 1/10. In February of 2024, First Sergeant Guerra deployed with Bravo Battery 1/10 on the Unit Deployment Program 24.1 to Okinawa, Japan. His career has included deployments to Iraq, the Philippines, and Okinawa, as well as assignments across the Marine Corps that demonstrate his adaptability, leadership, and mentorship of junior Marines.
A decorated veteran, 1stSgt Guerra’s awards include two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and five Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals. He is also a graduate of the Enlisted Faculty Advisor program, where he trained the next generation of Marine leaders at the Staff NCO Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Originally from Alice, Texas, 1stSgt Guerra and his family will be relocating to Granbury. His passion for mentoring youth, combined with his extensive experience in training, leadership, and team development, makes him a perfect fit for the continued success of Granbury’s MCJROTC program.
