Granbury ISD announced the appointment of Sandy Ruiz as the new principal of Brawner Elementary School, pending board approval. Ruiz has been an assistant principal at Brawner since 2021.
Ruiz is taking over for Jincy Ross, who served as principal for Brawner for eight years and recently announced she accepted a position with Region 11 as a Coordinator of Certification.
“We are thrilled to have Sandy Ruiz lead our faculty and students at Brawner,” GISD Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn said. “I look forward to seeing all she will accomplish with the students, staff and families at Brawner as their leader.”
Ruiz has 23 years of teaching and leadership experience, most recently at Brawner as the assistant principal (2021-23) and an instructional specialist (2017-21). Prior to joining Granbury ISD, Ruiz was a dyslexia coordinator in Coahoma ISD for three years and taught 4th-6th grade English in Coahoma from 2002-14. Ruiz got her teaching career started in Colorado City and Big Spring ISDs.
“I am honored to serve as the principal of Brawner,” Ruiz said. “The Brawner community is special to me, and I look forward to partnering with staff, students and families to continue the great things happening on campus.”
Dr. Glenn also added: “I would also like to thank Jincy Ross for her eight years of leadership and dedication to Granbury ISD, serving as principal of Brawner. We wish her all the very best in her next professional chapter.”
Ruiz has a Bachelor of Arts from Angelo State University and a Master of Education from Lamar University.
