Priscilla Lumbreras was selected to serve as Captain for a national conference in Washington D.C. through the Society for Science, which will be in September. This experience allow her to make further connections for our science fair competitions and for our brand new AP Research course.
Mrs. Lumbreras is starting her 7th year at Granbury High School where she teaches Biology, Chemistry, IPC and AP Research. She is also the district science fair coordinator. This is her 17th year in a science classroom. She was named the Secondary Region 11 Teacher of the Year in 2022, as well as GISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year and Granbury High School’s Teacher of the Year in the same year. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master of Arts in Science Education from Western Michigan University and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Science Education at UT Rio Grande Valley. Lumbreras served a one-year appointment as a STEM Ambassador for the Department of Defense, an honor that she shared with 15 other educators throughout the United States. She is the first Texas teacher to be appointed as a STEM Ambassador since the inception of the program.
