Granbury ISD announced the appointment and promotion of Julie Rohleder as the new principal of Granbury Middle School. Rohleder has been the principal at Baccus Elementary since 2020.
Rohleder is taking over for Dr. Andy Smith, who served as principal at GMS for three years and recently announced he’s stepping down to pursue other career opportunities. Dr. Smith and Rohleder will both finish out the remainder of the school year at their current campuses before the official transition of leadership at GMS. Rohleder will soon meet with GMS students, staff, and families to begin preparation for next school year.
“We are excited to have Julie Rohleder’s leadership at GMS,” GISD Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn said. “She is a champion for public education and a dedicated, proven leader that will be a tremendous asset to GMS. I look forward to seeing all she will accomplish with the students, staff, and families at GMS.”
Rohleder has 26 years of experience in public education, starting in Joshua ISD as an elementary math specialist. After serving as an Assistant Principal in Keene ISD, she returned to Joshua ISD where she was named an Assistant Principal, Curriculum Coordinator, and later Principal of Caddo Grove Elementary before she was hired by Granbury ISD to lead Baccus Elementary.
Since arriving at Baccus, Rohleder has led the campus to a complete turnaround. They went from being TEA-targeted to elevating the status to a high B and narrowly missing an A rating in just two years.
“First, I would like to thank the wonderful students, staff, and families of Baccus Elementary for their trust and partnership over the last three years and welcoming me with open arms to Granbury ISD. We had a lot of wonderful accomplishments together and I know they will continue that foundation we created. Baccus Elementary will always have a special place in my heart.”
“I am thrilled to serve as the principal of Granbury Middle School and thank Dr. Glenn for this opportunity,” Rohleder continued. “Granbury ISD is full of passionate educators, and I am excited to get to work alongside them at GMS and get to know the students, staff, and families. I look forward to creating a welcoming and motivating environment that encourages all our students and staff to be successful every day and reach their full potential.”
Dr. Glenn added: “I would also like to thank Dr. Andy Smith for his three years of leadership and dedication to Granbury ISD, serving as principal of GMS. We wish him the very best in his next professional chapter.”
Rohleder has a Bachelor of Art from Texas Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Tarleton State University.
Granbury ISD is currently in the process of identifying a new principal for Baccus Elementary.
