GHS MCJROTC Competes in Physical Training Meet

The GHS MCJROTC Physical Training (PT) Team competed in the International Leadership of Texas Keller-Saginaw High School Talon Challenge on Saturday September 14th. Competition events included pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, standing broad jump, tire flip, tug of war, fireman’s carry, sled-drag and kettlebell carry, and two-mile relay. The Pirates earned medals in the following events: 1st place – fireman’s carry, pull-ups, push-ups; 2nd place – standing broad jump, two-mile relay; 3rd place – tire flip, sprint-drag-carry which resulted in the team earning 1st Place Overall at the meet. Seventeen JROTC teams from all over the state participated in the Talon Challenge.

 

The competition was held in the spirit of sportsmanship and competition. The intent and purpose of the field meet was to foster teamwork, motivation, and unit cohesion among all cadets. Additionally, events such as these help to foster positive relationships among all those in attendance. This was a great opportunity for cadets to build rapport, network and socialize with their fellow cadets amongst the Keller-Saginaw High School campus.
