Granbury ISD announced the appointment of Duane Fish as the new principal of Granbury High School. He is taking over for Jamie Robinson, who served as principal for GHS since 2023 and was recently hired as Superintendent of Karnes City ISD.
Fish comes to Granbury High School with over a decade of high school principal experience in the states of Washington and Michigan, but most recently served as Assistant Principal at Central High School in Keller ISD and Director of Student Services and Assistant Principal at Chisholm Trail High School in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. Throughout his career, Fish has demonstrated a commitment to building positive school culture, improving student achievement, and cultivating meaningful community partnerships.
“We are thrilled to welcome Duane Fish to Granbury High School,” said Dr. Courtney Morawski, Superintendent of Granbury ISD. “Mr. Fish brings a wealth of leadership experience, a strong commitment to academic excellence, and a clear vision for fostering a safe and high-achieving school environment. We are confident that his leadership will serve our students, staff, and community well.”
Prior to his time in Texas, Fish was principal of Arlington High School in Arlington, Washington—one of the state's top-performing public high schools—where from 2017-22, he led a staff of 165 and a student body of nearly 2,000. His tenure was marked by increased student engagement, enhanced campus safety, and successful leadership of capital improvement projects. He also served as principal at Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge Island, Washington, and at Lawrence Junior/Senior High School in Lawrence, Michigan, from 2012 to 2017.
Fish began his professional career in law enforcement, serving 13 years with the Seattle Police Department in roles including detective and public information officer. He also served six years as a patrol officer in Allegan, Michigan. He later transitioned to education, teaching law and public safety at the high school level in Allegan for six years.
“It is a privilege to join Granbury High School and become part of a district with such a strong tradition of excellence,” said Fish. “I am committed to building meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families, and to promoting a culture of high expectations, support, and continuous growth. I look forward to working collaboratively to ensure every student is prepared for success in the classroom and beyond.”
Fish holds a Master of Public Administration in Educational Leadership from the University of Michigan-Flint and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Criminal Justice from Western Michigan University.
