Director of Athletics | Dwight Butler

Dwight Butler became the Granbury ISD Athletic Director in 2005.

In this role, Coach Bulter oversees athletic programs at Granbury High School, Acton Middle School, and Granbury Middle School.  He also supervises athletic facilities at all GISD campuses.  Coach Butler is also the director of the Community Education Department.

A New Mexico native, Coach Butler previously served as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach in Big Spring. Having begun coaching and teaching in 1978, he also worked in schools in New Mexico, Monahans, Abilene Cooper, and Levelland.

Coach Butler earned Certified Master Athletic Administrator certification from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrator Association in 2013.  He earned his Texas Athletic Administrators Certification with the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association in 2021. 

Coach Butler and his wife, Kathy, have two sons and five grandchildren.
