Emergency Management

Campus Security

With the beginning of the 2008-09 school year, visitors to Granbury ISD campuses will have to communicate with office staff through an intercom system in order to gain access to the school building.  The measure is a new initiative of the school district being implemented in order to enhance security at all campuses.

Following the beginning of classes each morning, all doors will be secured to restrict outside entry.  Office staff will monitor the front door, and visitors will communicate by the intercom.  Once access is granted, the staff will instruct the visitor to report to the front office.

In addition, GISD campuses will continue to utilize the Raptor system for visitor check-in.  All visitors to a school campus are required to check in the school office and to present a driver’s license (or other government-issued photo identification).  The office staff will scan the identification card in order to determine if the visitor is a registered sex offender.  The system will provide instant confirmation.  If approved, an adhesive badge will be printed with the person’s name for access to appropriate areas of the school.

This system utilizes V-Soft, a web-based software application developed by Raptor Technologies.  The company developed the program especially for schools, and the scans of driver’s licenses screen visitors against sex offender databases from multiple states.  The system is used by hundreds of school districts throughout the United States.
