Purpose

The Community Schools Health Advisory Council is a committee of community members, parents, doctors, teachers, and school nurses who work together to address health issues in Granbury ISD.

The purpose of the CSHAC is to oversee and to protect the safety and health issues of the students.  This may involve bringing in experts in the field for information.

Research shows that healthy children do better in school - from attendance and behavior to academics and overall performance. The CSHAC works with the district to support good health and academic achievement.

The committee often makes recommendations concerning these issues to the superintendent.

Every school district is required by law to have a Health Advisory Council; of which the majority of members must be parents who are not employed by the school district.  Title 2, Chapter 28, Section 28.004 of the Texas Education Code at http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/statutes/ed.toc.htm details the specifics of this mandate.
